Rickie B. Saunders

SUNBURY – Rickie B. Saunders, 53, died April 10, 2007.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church, Corapeake. Stallings Funeral Chapel, Gatesville, is in charge.

Reuben Deans Sr.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Reuben Deans Sr., 71, a native of Ahoskie, died April 3, 2007, in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. He was the widower of Clara L. Deans.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Deans, Diane Deans and Shirley Deans, all of Portsmouth; two sons, Reuben Deans Jr. of Portsmouth and Jerome Deans of Florida; two sisters, Constance Riddick of Portsmouth and Lucy Faison of Ahoskie; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

A funeral was conducted Friday in New St. Thomas Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Johnnie Drake. Burial was in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, was in charge.

Sallie Winborne

WASHINGTON n Sallie Bailey Morgan Yert Winborne, 96, a native of Beaufort County, died April 11, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of Harold Edwin Yert Sr. and O.S. Winborne.

A funeral was conducted Friday at First Church of Christ, Washington, by S. Ray West. Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery. Paul Funeral Home was in charge. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to First Church of Christ, 520 East 10th Street, Washington, NC 27889 or American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Beaufort County Chapter, c/o Lisa Alligood, 7581 Broad Creek Road, Washington, NC 27889.

Mrs. Winborne worked in the admissions department at Beaufort County Hospital.

Survivors include her son, Harold Edwin “Butch” Yert Jr. of Belhaven; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Katrina D. Boone

ROANOKE RAPIDS n Katrina Denise Boone, 32, died April 7, 2007 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the funeral home for Ms. Boone’s Service.

Ella Boone

LEWISTON n Ella “Beady” Boone, 73, a native of Bertie County, died April 10, 2007 at her residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodville Plains Baptist Church, Lewiston, by the Rev. Robert Walton. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

She was a member of Woodville Plains Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brothers, Elizah Boone of Lewiston and Douglas Thompson of Virginia.

Angelus Washington

ROCKY MOUNT –

Angelus Claudette Washington, 54, died April 10, 2007.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church by Elder Herman L. Vaughan, the eulogist and Minister Jackie Cooper officiating. Interment will be in Gardens of Gethsemane. H.D. Pope Funeral Home is in charge.

Jimmie J. Jarrells

FT. WASHINGTON, Md. n Jimmie Lee Jarrells, 65, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died April 11, 2007 at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital, Washington.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home by the Rev. Danny B. Jones Sr. Interment will be in the Jarrell family cemetery.

Rachael F. Britt

SEVERN n Rachael Forest Britt, 82, a native of Roanoke Rapids, died April 8, 2007 in Woodland, Calif. She was the widow of Ralph W. Britt.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Severn Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Hogan and the Rev. John Dean. Burial will be in Severn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Severn Baptist Church, beginning at 1 p.m. prior to services. Massey Funeral Home, Jackson, is in charge.

Mrs. Britt performed clerical work for the Navy during World War II. She was a member of Severn Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Frankie Britt of Novato, Calif.; a son, David Britt of Winters, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Lucille Knight

GARYSBURG n Lucille Knight, 80, died April 13, 2007 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.
