Teen’s death leaves questions

AHOSKIE – The death of an Ahoskie teen has left local law enforcement officials searching for answers.
Neil Allen Gillespie, 16, died Thursday morning of what is now being termed as unknown reasons.
According to Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh, his office received a call at 10:15 a.m. concerning an unresponsive male at 519 Liberty Alley.
Ahoskie Rescue and Hertford County EMS were also summoned to the residence. Gillespie was transported to Roanoke-Chowan Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:50 a.m.
Chief Fitzhugh said due to the suspicious nature of the teen’s death, the body was taken to Greenville for an autopsy.
As of yesterday (Friday), Chief Fitzhugh said he was waiting on the autopsy report. He added that the investigation continues into the teen’s death.
