AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School scored early and often Wednesday night.
The Rams got out to an 11-5 lead and rolled ahead 22-8 by the end of the first quarter enroute to a 76-42 thrashing of visiting Halifax Academy.
Second year coach Tim Boone saw his team score 20-plus in the first three quarters and was able to play his entire squad as the Rams improved to 7-2 on the young season.
Ridgecroft used a 11-2 run to close the first quarter fueled by senior Chris Hill and Bryan Britton as they led 22-8.
They continued to pour on the offensive firepower in the second quarter, outscoring the Vikings 21-5 to establish a handy 43-13 lead by the intermission.
Halifax got their offense going in the third quarter, scoring 18 points in the period, but Ridgecroft was still strong as well, getting 23 in the same span to lead 66-31 after three quarters.
The Rams placed three in double digits during the victory.
Hill led the way with 27 points while Britton added 11 points and John Alexander contributed 10 points.
Josh Morris also had a good night for the Rams, contributing eight points to the victory.
Jeremy Wells led the way for Halifax Academy with 12 points. He was the only Viking in double figures.
After hosting Northeast Academy last night (Friday) in a game that finished too late for press time, the Rams travel to Hobgood Academy for a Tarheel Independent conference matchup on Tuesday.
