AHOSKIE – No one was injured Sunday night when an armed robber entered the Sunny Food Mart south of Ahoskie.

According to Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan, the incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday evening.
It was at that time a black male entered Food Mart, produced a gun and ordered everyone onto the floor. He then allegedly had the clerk open the register and put cash into a bag.

According to Vaughan, the suspect is described as a black male who appeared to be in his early 20s. He reportedly stands between 6’ and 6’-1” tall and weighs between 180 and 200 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket with a gray-lined hood and black pants.
The suspect did not wear a mark during the robbery, but used the hood to cover his head.
Hertford County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Will Liverman and Sgt. Neil Ambrose are investigating the case.
“We urge anyone with information about this suspect to contact us as soon as possible,” Sheriff Vaughan said.
