Jameika Battle

ROCKY MOUNT n Jameika Danielle Battle, infant, died August 19, 206 at Nash General Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge.

Lala Sutton

COFIELD n Lala Ester Spivey Sutton, 90, a native of Hertford County, died August 19, 2006 at her residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Peterson Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Percell Whitaker. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Mrs. Sutton was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Sutton of the home and Emma Vaughn of Cofield; two sons, Wille Sutton of Rocky Mount and Ronald Sutton of Cofield; a sister, Ethel Taylor of Queens, NY; a brother, Leroy Spivey of Brooklyn; 90 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren.

James C. Bunch

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – James Calvin Bunch, a native of Windsor, died August 20, 2006. Bunch was retired from the Navy Supply Center after 36 years.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret C. Bunch; two daughters, Margaret Cooper and Denise Bunch Smith; one son, Dennis Bunch, all of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at Fitchett Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Interment will be in at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake.

William E. Blue

ROCKY MOUNT n William Edward Blue, 82, died August 18, 2006 at his residence.

WINDSOR n Naomi Pinder, 99, died August 19, 2006 at Brian Center.

Elton Vaughan

GREENVILLE n Elton Lee Vaughan, 46, a native of Franklin, Va., died August 22, 2006 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at New Harrellsville Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Shirley Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Vaughan was a member of New Harrellsville Chapel Baptist Church. He was a teacher at Pitt County Schools, past employment as a field Operations Specialist with US Census Bureau, Greenville, Speech Clinician at Bertie County Schools, sales representative with United Insurance Co., paralegal with Vernice Howard Law Firm, instructor at Roanoke-Chowan Community College.

Survivors include sisters, Clarine R. Lassiter of Murfreesboro, Annie Mae Mayfield of Norfolk, Va., Blannie V. Hunt of Murfreesboro, Maxzena McPherson of Norfolk and Leomie Vaughan of Windsor; and one brother, Moses Vaughan of Murfreesboro.

Amelia Moore

AHOSKIE – Amelia Mariah Illianna Moore, infant, daughter of

Henry and Angela Moore, died August 22, 2006 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Survivors include, her parentes; three sisters, Keyanna Wright and Brionna Daye, both of Middletown, Ct. and Angel Moore of Ahoskie; and her grandparents, Mary Moore Vinson of Ahoskie and Helen and Larry Parker of Middletown, Ct.

A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Moore family cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie is in charge.

Clara Motley

POWELLSVILLE n Clara Olive York Motley, 92, a native of Powellsville, died August 22, 2006 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Missionary Church Powellsville by the Rev. John W. White. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Mrs. Motley was a retired Extension Home Economics Agent who worked in Hertford County from 1944 until her retirement in 1976 with a specialization in 4-H clubs for youth and extension homemakers for adults. Prior to coming to extension she taught in the public school systems of Fairmont, Roanoke Rapids and later at C.G. White School in Powellsville. She also served several religion and professional organizations including First Baptist Missionary Church Powellsville, the Women’s Auxiliary of the General Baptist State Convention, Lott Carey, Extension Board of the Women’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missions, the American Home Economics Association, National Association of Extension Home Economists, NC Association of Extension 4-H Agents, Epsilon Sigma Phi, the Order of the Eastern Star, Bertie County Senior Citizens, and was on the board of the Atlantic District Fair.

She is survived by one son, Columbus Eugene Motley Jr. of Wilmington.
