Barbara Mizelle

AHOSKIE n Barbara Keys Mizelle, 54, a native of Bertie County, died August 5, 2006 at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.

Mrs. Mizelle was a poultry grader at Perdue, Inc., Lewiston. She was a member of Luella Baptist Church, Kelford, and its hospitality committee and senior choir.

Survivors include her husband, James N. Mizelle of Ahoskie; her mother, Thelma Keys of Kelford; two daughters, Beverly M. Lee of Newark, NJ and Katina L. Mizelle of Paterson; a son, Tony Wilkins of Lewiston; two brothers, James Keys of Newark and Roger Keys of Lewiston; three sisters, Connie Garvin of Maryland, Jennifer Hill and Margaret Keys-Jones, both of Lewiston; and two grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Luella Baptist Church, Kelford, by the Rev. Vernon Lassiter. Burial will be in the Harrell family cemetery, Ahoskie. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Virginia Doward

ROCKY MOUNT n Virginia Nell Mercer Doward, 72, died August 6, 2006 at Life Care Hospital.

Na’Asia Vines

ROCKY MOUNT n Na-Asia Shade’ Vines, infant, died August 2, 2006 at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service was conducted Wednesday at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, was in charge.

Inell K. Nunn

NORFOLK, Va. – Inell K. Nunn, 66, a native of Jackson, died August 6, 2006, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

She was an executive housekeeper for Marjac Suites for 32 years. She was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Fellowship Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Evelyn Jean Nunn Clemmons of Norfolk; two sons, Cornelius Kee of Virginia Beach and Melvin Kee of Norfolk; two sisters, Novlene Jagoe of Norfolk and Odell Stone of Roanoke Rapids; two brothers, Archie Clements of Roanoke Rapids and the Rev. Alfred Clements of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Gospel Tabernacle Fellowship Church, 600 King St., Portsmouth, with the Dr. Monroe Hughes. Burial will be in Jones Memorial Park in Virginia Beach. Monroe Funeral Home, 1701 Wilson Road, Norfolk, is in charge. Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at 2304 Keller Ave. at 11 a.m. Friday for the funeral procession to the church.

Carlos Davis

WASHINGTON, D.C. n Carlos Jay Davis, 30, formerly of Rocky Mount, died August 6, 2006 at George Washington University Hospital.

COFIELD n Carrie L. Reid, died August 6, 2006 in her residence.

Survivors include two sons, Rayford Reid Jr. of Richmond, Va., and Melvin Reid of Ahoskie; four daughters, Carrie R. Sessoms of Ahoskie, Jean R. Beasley of Petersburg, Phyllis R. Nichols of Norfolk and Brenda R. Hawkins of Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers, Daniel Lassiter of Cofield and Norman and Willie Garry Lassiter, both of Ahoskie; three sisters, Emma Ward of Ahoskie, Wilma Askew of Winton and Hattie Combo of Petersburg; and 14 grandchildren.

Herman Stephenson

MURFREESBORO n Herman Lee Stephenson, 48, a native of Hertford County, died August 4, 2006 at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Haven Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, by the Rev. Lloyd Gatling. Burial will be in Carver’s Park Cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include his mother, Marie Mae Gatling Stephenson; two brothers, Ernest Stephenson and Vernon Lee Stephenson, both of Murfreesboro and four sisters, Mardesta Pope of New York, N.Y., Maurice Blythe of Leesburg, Va., Celestine Worthington of Carrollton, Va., and Daphine Charity of Richmond.
