JACKSON n A familiar face will return to a place he has occupied for many years.

Don Johnson, a four-term incumbent on the Northampton County Board of Education who was defeated in his reelection bid four years ago, will return to a seat on that governing body Tuesday.

Johnson, who was the highest vote-getter in the May election for the school board, will be sworn in at 5:30 p.m. before the board enters closed session.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Johnson said Friday morning. “I’ve been watching and reading for the last four years.”

Johnson said he felt a desire to get back onto the board and try, with the help of the other members, to improve education in Northampton County.

“I’m looking forward to a pleasant time and a pleasant term,” Johnson said. “I’m excited about serving the people that elected me and I thank them very much.”

Johnson was elected in the non-partisan vote by becoming the highest vote-getter on the ballot.

Incumbents Charles Tyner and Grace Edwards were returned to the board during the May election and they will also be administered oaths as they begin another term.
