WINTON – On Independence Day a Winton teen learned the hard way that advertising illegal activities is a sure way to lose your freedom.
On July 4, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Sgt. Will Liverman of the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office went to 124 Sandy Drive in Winton to speak to an individual concerning a criminal investigation. Upon arrival at the residence he noticed two marijuana plants growing out of separate containers on the front porch.
After investigating the residence, Jonathan B. Hoggard, 19 was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and deliver, illegal manufacture of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hoggard was taken into custody and transported to the Hertford County Jail where he was placed under a $10,500 secured bond.
Hoggard is scheduled to appear in Hertford County court on Friday July 7.
Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan praised the efforts of Liverman, &uot;I want to thank Sgt. Liverman for excellent police work in the apprehension and arrest of this suspect.&uot;
