Post 15 wins

WASHINGTON – Beaufort County Post 15 knocked off Ahoskie Post 102 by a 9-2 count in a Senior American Legion baseball game here Thursday night.

Beaufort County took the early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Ahoskie got on the board in the third with one run.

Dusty Todd singled to center with one out and was followed by back-to-back singles from Ben Bright and Heath Britt to load the bases.

Todd came around to score on a Jobie Thomas RBI-groundout, which moved Bright to third and Britt to second. A groundout ended the threat with Post 15 holding a 3-1 edge.

Beaufort County added two marks of their own in the bottom of the third to take a 5-1 lead and extended it to 7-1 with single runs in the sixth and seventh.

Post 102 got their final run in the top of the eighth.

Todd doubled to right-centerfield and scored on a Bright RBI-single to trim the deficit to 7-2.

After a double play, Tucker Warren singled to right, O.J. Dobbin walked and Judd Whitehead singled on the infield to load the bases, but a strikeout ended the threat.

Beaufort County added their final two runs in the bottom of the eighth to establish the final.

Dustin Briggs pitched six innings and suffered the loss while Warren tossed the final two frames.

Ahoskie had 10 hits, led by Todd and Bright, each of whom had three. Britt, Warren, Dobbin and Whitehead had one hit each.

Ahoskie fell to 1-17 with the loss.
