Philip T. Hall
HOUSTON, Texas n Philip T. Hall, 78, a native of Gates, died June 15, 2006 at Triumph Hospital, Sugarland, Houston, Texas. He was the widower of Virginia Lang Hall.
A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at Stallings Funeral Chapel, 202 Church St., Gatesville, by the Rev. L.P. Harrell. Burial will be in the Hall family cemetery, Gates. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and the family will be at the home of the brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Joyce Hall of 1196 NC Highway, S., Gates.
Hall was a retired merchant seaman. He was an Army veteran and a member of Mount Ararat United Church of Christ, Suffolk, Va.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Davis of Missouri, Phyllis Parham of Bastrop, LA and Kathie Hall of Houston; one son, Nathan Hall of Dallas; one sister, Myrtle Rogers of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Richard Hall of Hampton and Russell Hall of Gates; six stepchildren; and eight grandchildren.
John Williams Jr.
ROCKY MOUNT n John Williams Jr., 67, died June 11, 2006 in his residence.
A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Rocky Mount. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge.
William G. Whitaker
MURFREESBORO – William Glenn Whitaker, 73, a native of Durham, died June 17, 2006 in Durham Regional Hospital.
Whitaker was retired from the Liggett & Meyers Tobacco Company. He was a past president of the Durham Homebuilders Association. He was also of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Fay Cable Whitaker of Durham; three sisters, Frances W. Choplin of Durham, Joyce W. Smith of Murfreesboro and Judy W. Ralston of Cocoa, FL; and one brother, Carroll H. Whitaker of Dawsonville, GA.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Maplewood Cemetery by the Rev. Ken Forehand. Hall-Wynne Funeral Home is in charge.
Lewis E. Belch
COLERAIN n Mr. Lewis Edward Belch, age 75, of Colerain, NC, died June 17, 2006 at Guardian Care in Ahoskie, NC.
Mr. Belch was born May 9, 1931 in Bertie County, NC, the son of the late Arlie T. Belch and Collie Davenport Belch. He was a retired electrician.
Survivors include his sisters, Arline B. Riddick of Colerain, NC and Dorothy M. Phillips of Dallas, Texas. His brothers, Donald R. Belch of Carolina Beach, NC. Also several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Colerain Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Byrd officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colerain Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Melton Deloatch
JACKSON – Melton Deloatch, 72, a native of Northampton County, died June 16, 2006.
Deloatch was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church.
He was a retired carpenter for Mr. Leon Martin.
Survivors include two sons, Kelly Deloatch of North Brunswick, NJ and Milton Deloatch of Rich Square;
four sisters, Inez Majette, Eula Everette and Willie Mae Peebles, all of Conway and Cora Lee Parks of Philadelphia, PA;
two grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday June 21, 2006 at Allen Chapel AME Church.
Burial will be in the Deloatch family cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie is in charge.
Mattie Deshay
ROANOKE RAPIDS n Mattie Deshay, 60, died June 18, 2006 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, is in charge.
Merlin Hill Jr.
HALIFAX n Merlin Hill Jr., 69, died June 18, 2006 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Bina J. Davis
MERRY HILL n Bina Jackson Davis, 81, a native of Nash County, died June 18, 2006 at Nash General Hospital. She was the widow of Russell W. Davis Sr.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cashie Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Byrd and Dr. Carroll Tarkington. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor and at other times at the home of Russ Davis, 128 Governor Eden House Road, Merry Hill. Memorial gifts may be made to either the American Cancer Society or to Cashie Baptist Church.
Mrs. Davis was retired from Bertie County as the veteran’s administrator. She was a member Cashie Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Gail D. White of Raleigh and Bobbi D. Fuller of Battleboro; a son, Russell William Davis Jr. of Merry Hill; sisters, Elsie J. Model of Merry Hill and Barbara J. Zabner of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Susie Jones
BROOKLYN, NY n Susie Jones, 84, a native of Sunbury, died June 16, 2006 at Long Island College Hospital.
She is survived by one brother, Russell Costen of Sunbury.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John AME Zion, Sunbury, by the Rev. C.A. Eason. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.
