Doris M. Dailey

AHOSKIE n Doris Miller Dailey, 80, of 131 Center Grove Road, Ahoskie, NC, died Friday, June 9, 2006 at the Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Dailey was born January 26, 1962 in Bertie County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Walter Miller and Lula Baker Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Dailey, Jr., on December 16, 2000.

Survivors include her daughter Peggy Rodgers and her husband Dennis of Hopewell, VA; stepdaughter, Sheron J. Dailey and her husband Thomas B. Tucker of Terre Haute, IN; her son, Reid Daniels and his wife, Jane of Harrellsville, NC; sister, Rena Todd of Windsor, NC; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the Stoney Creek Cemetery in Powellsville, NC, with the Rev. Jimmy Jarrell officiating.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service at, 131 Center Grove Road.

Mary Mitchell

WINDSOR n Mary “Mae Bertha” Mitchell, 75, died June 11, 2006 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am. Thursday at the Freeman family cemetery, Windsor. A walk-in visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

Doretha Eason

MARYLAND n Doretha Eason, 67, a native of Hertford County, died June 7, 2006 at Southern Maryland Hospital.

A funeral was conducted Monday at New Haven Baptist Church by the Rev. Lloyd Gatling. Burial was in Carver’s Park Cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, was in charge.

She is survived by one sister, Lucy Eason of Clinton, Md.

Donald Perkins

LEWISTON-WOODVILLE – Mr. Donald Perkins, age 64 died at the Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie on Friday, June 09, 2006.

He is a native of Marlboro County in South Carolina.

He has spent most of his life in Lewiston-Woodville, NC.

He was married to Geraldine Walters in 1964 and they had three children.

Mr. Perkins was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying these sports all of his life.

He was also the ASA World Champion in Archery in 1998 and 2001.

He has competed on the national level for many years and his family is very proud of his accomplishments in the sport of Archery.

Preceding him in death are his father, Charlie Perkins and his brother, Jimmy Perkins.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine W. Perkins of the home, two daughters, Donna P. Dawson and her husband Craig of Askewville, NC, Melinda P. White and her husband Chuck of Lewiston-Woodville, NC, one son, Kip Perkins of Seven Springs, NC, his mother, Mollie White of Laurel Hill, NC and one brother, Charles Perkins of Laurinburg, NC.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Chaise Perkins, Bayley Dawson, Hunter White, Hannah White, Emiley Dawson, Carley Dawson and Camryn White.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday evening, June 11th at 7 P.M. at the Chapel of Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square, NC with the burial following on Monday, June 12th at 11 A.M. at the Hoggard Memorial Cemetery in Lewiston-Woodville, NC.

The family received friends following the services on Sunday evening at Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square, NC.

Mary E. Spruill

COLERAIN n Mary Elizabeth “Knob” or “Topsy” Spruill, 69, of 115 Main Street, died June 10, 2006, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Miss Spruill was born February 15, 1937 in Bertie County. She was a domestic Engineer with Beasley Enterprises and a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Colerain, NC.

A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Nathaniel Thompson. Burial will be in Wilder’s Family Cemetery, Hexalena Rd., Ahoskie. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

She was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church and did housekeeping with Beasley Enterprises.

Survivors include one daughter, Theresa Perry of Colerain; two sons, Harry Spruill of Ahoskie and Franklin Spruill Jr. of New York; brothers, Harry T. Spruill and Franklin R. Spruill, both of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Clifton J. Perry and Sheresa L. Perry and eight other grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, Deontr\u00E9 Bishop and Dont\u00E9 Wood;

one uncle, Hubert Wilder of Ahoskie; one aunt, Lillie Bunch of Philadelphia, Pa.; and special friends, Argie Bazemore, Shirley Morris, Evora Jones, Shirley Harmon and the Beasley family.
