WOODLAND – Woodland Police Chief Don Ryan has identified a &uot;person of interest&uot; in last week’s armed robbery of the Red Apple convenience store.

Ryan said Thursday morning that an anonymous tip led him to a person who he now would like to question concerning the robbery.

The information came in by way of a telephone call to the Woodland Town Hall.

&uot;We received a telephone call that identified a person who may have been involved in the incident,&uot; Ryan said. &uot;We very much appreciate the information, but I would like to speak to that caller personally.&uot;

The chief insisted he would keep the person’s name anonymous, but had questions that he would like to ask the informant. He asked whoever made the call to please call him on his line at 396-3306.

Ryan also revealed information that the suspect in the case was wearing what appeared to be a &uot;Zorro mark&uot; when the robbery was committed.

The chief also said he had learned a person attempted to enter the Red Apple during the robbery, but was told to get away and fled the scene.

&uot;This person is someone else we would very much like to talk to,&uot; Ryan said. &uot;They

may have seen or heard something that would help in this investigation.&uot;

Ryan is investigating a May 29 armed robbery of the Red Apple on Main Street. During that incident a lone gunman entered the story and produced a chrome-plated automatic pistol. He ordered employees and customers to the floor and took money from the business.

Ryan has received several tips about the case, but is seeking more information.

Anyone having information about the suspect or the robbery may also call Ryan at the above number.
