Ahoskie falls

AHOSKIE n Snow Hill Post 94 scored three runs in the first inning and went on to a 12-3 victory over Ahoskie here Saturday.

The Post 94 club took the victory on Ahoskie American Legion Post 102’s opening date at home in senior Legion baseball.

Snow Hill scored three in the first and one in the second to take a 4-0 advantage.

Ahoskie got on the board in the bottom half of the second stanza.

Dustin Briggs walked and went to second on a wild pitch. He went to third on a Lance Thomas single. Thomas stole second, allowing Briggs to swipe home and cut the deficit to 4-1.

Snow Hill added two in the top of the fourth to take a 6-1 lead, but Ahoskie plated two of their own in the bottom of the sixth.

Jacob Harrell singled to left, but was erased when Dusty Todd reached on a fielder’s choice.

Todd went to third on a Tucker Warren single and scored on a wild pitch. Warren took second on the wild pitch and scored when Briggs delivered an RBI-single to center. Briggs went to second on the throw home.

O.J. Dobbin’s infield single sent Brigs to third, but a pop out and a ground out ended the threat with Snow Hill holding the 6-3 lead.

Snow Hill scored five in the top of the seventh to lead 11-3 and added another in the ninth.

Thomas pitched three and one-third innings for the loss. Briggs, Warren and Ben Bright also saw action on the mound.

Briggs led the Post 102 offensive attack with three of the team’s nine hits. Harrell, Todd, Warren, Thomas, Dobbin and Michael Burton had a hit each.

Ahoskie dropped to 0-1 on the season and will host Pitt County Post 160 Thursday at 7 p.m.
