Lawrence F. Eaton Jr.

SUFFOLK, Va. – Bishop Lawrence F. Eaton Jr., died April 5, 2006, in Obici Hospital.

Eaton was the pastor of Eaton’s Temple Holiness Church, Drum Hill Road, Gates. Crocker Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Cheryl W. Coley

AHOSKIE – Cheryl Wallace Coley 48, of the 100 block of Blue Jay Trail, died in her home April 5, 2006.

She was a native of Wilson, N.C., a daughter of the late Benjamin Lee and Reba Hall Wallace, a member of First Presbyterian Church Ahoskie, and the owner and operator of Ahoskie New and Used Furniture Store.

Surviving are her husband; Robert Stephen “Steve” Coley, one daughter; Leigh Nowell and her husband, Duane, Ahoskie, N. C., one sister; Kimberly Wallace Cooper, Ahoskie, N. C., two brothers; David Lee Wallace, Winton, N.C., Michael Eric Wallace, Murfreesboro, N.C, her paternal grandmother; Annie Margaret Norton Wallace, Atlanta, Ga.

A celebration of life service will be held for Cheryl, 11:00 A. M Saturday April 8, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church Ahoskie, with Rev. Richard Rice officiating, burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home from 7-8:30 P.M. Friday April 7, 2006. Memorial Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 437 N.C 561 West Aulander, N. C. 27805.

Ernestine M. Garrett

CHESAPEAKE, Va. n Ernestine Garrett, a native of Gates County, died March 27, 2006. She was the widow of Edward C. Garrett.

A service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Churchland Baptist Church. Family will meet friends at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Macular Degeneration Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, P.O. Box 1952 Clarksburg, MD 20871. Cremation Society of Virginia, Virginia Beach, will be handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Garrett was a graduate of Cradock High School, Mary Washington College and Radford College.

Survivors include her daughter, Nelda Baldwin; two grandsons; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

WINDSROR n Alton Bell, 88, died April 5, 2006 at Bertie Memorial Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Windsor. A visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.
