MURFREESBORO – This year will mark the second year Hertford Gates Relay For Life will hold it’s Kids Walk during Relay For Life.
Throughout the past five years, people of all ages have joined in the community’s efforts to fight cancer. Last year a special Kids Walk was held that allowed young people to show their support in the fight against cancer.
The Kids Walk was a great success. The decision was made to make the Kids Walk a
permanent part of the local Relay For Life. Children from birth up to age 12 will be doing their part in the fight against cancer through raising funds and joining the special activities for kids on Saturday April 29 during the 2006 Hertford-Gates Relay For Life at Chowan College.
Kids are asked to pay a $5 registration fee and to raise at least $25 in the fight against cancer. A special time has been designated from 10 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, April 29 for all kids to enjoy rides and lots of great activities. There will also be great food and fun and entertainment for adults as well.
This year, kids who have registered early will be treated to a special treat of having their very own Kids Walk Shirt. The shirts will display the art of the winning contestant of the art contest. These shirts are being donated by Stitch Count of Ahoskie.
A special award ceremony will be held following the Kids Walk announcing the Little Mr. and Little Miss Relay for the young boy and young girl who raised the most money.
These winners will receive some special treats.
