WOODLAND – One of the area’s most unique events is slated for April 8.
The Woodland Easter Parade will be held at 11 a.m. on that date and will feature a variety of participants.
&uot;I am really looking forward to this year’s parade,&uot; Woodland Mayor Jay Jenkins said. &uot;It has been something unique to the area for several years.
&uot; With Margaret Burgwyn heading up the festivities again this year, I am sure it will be right in line with the same caliber of event from years past,&uot; he added.
Burgwyn was asked by the Jenkins and the members of the Woodland Board of Commissioners to continue to serve as the parade’s chairperson. She is joined this year by Commissioner Joe Blythe, who was named co-chair.
Thus far the parade has 12 units, but the town expects that number to increase and could surpass last year’s 15-unit event.
The Woodland Civic Club is taking a more active role in this year’s event. They will be offering pony rides and a bake sale immediately following the parade in the parking lot beside Southern Bank.
There are also other booths available in this area for any non-profit organization that would like to sell food or other items. Anyone interested in those spaces should contact Woodland Town Clerk Gail Colson at 587-7161 prior to 5 p.m. April 7.
Also, those who may be interested in being a part of the parade should contact Colson. They may call the number listed above or they can fax information about the parade entry to 587-1893.
The rain date for the parade will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9.
