WASHINGTON – Lawrence Academy did the usual here Monday.

They did a little bit of the unusual as well.

The Lady Warriors, who are the defending Tarheel Independent Conference champions, rolled past Terra Ceia Christian School 16-3 and 11-1 in a doubleheader Monday.

That was the normal routine for the Warriors.

What wasn’t so normal were three consecutive homeruns hit by Lawrence in the first contest. Lauren Rea, Ashley Swain and LeeAnn Eubanks hit back-to-back-to-back homers in the contest to help the Lady Warriors pull away for the easy win.

Senior hurler Jessica Johnston went four innings in the win, allowing four hits while striking out three. Kendall Street tossed the final inning.

Street, Rea and Swain all were 3-for-4 with a homerun on the evening. Eubanks was 3-for-3 with a homer, a double and a single.

Sarah Capehart and Johnston each had two hits as well.

In the second game, Street tossed all four innings, giving up two hits while striking out six. She also led the way offensively, going 3-for-3 at the plate, including a single, a double and a second homerun on the day.

Ashtyn Mizelle was 2-for-2 including a double in the second contest while Swain was 2-for-2 with a pair of singles.

Johnston and Jodi White were 2-for-3 during the contest.

&uot;We had one bad inning defensively in the first game,&uot; second-year coach Truitt Johnston said. &uot;All three runs in that game were unearned.

&uot;After we struggled through that inning, we settled down, got used to the pitching and got into a rhythm,&uot; he added. &uot;How many times are you going to get three straight homeruns? I was certainly pleased with the girls being able to accomplish that.&uot;

The Warriors, who improved to 6-3 on the season and a spotless 4-0 mark inside the TIC, will host Hobgood Academy Thursday at 4 p.m.
