LASKER – Community Christian put up a fight.

Despite that fact, Ridgecroft School’s varsity boys were in cruise control much of the night here Friday as they topped the Cyclones 57-38 in the second day of the Greater Lasker Shootout.

Community started hot early, taking a 5-0 lead on a bucket by Zac Brake and a triple from Jordan Davis.

Unfortunately for the Cyclones, that was about the only offensive spurt they would put together.

Ridgecroft scored 12 of the next 13 points and grabbed a 12-6 advantage.

Michael Edwards started the spurt when he buried two triples around a Drew Jones bucket. Bryan Britton, the game’s leading scorer with 16 points, hit for two before Edwards hit a deuce to give the Rams a six-point advantage.

The lead got as small as three (21-18) late in the first half, but Jones hit a bucket to make it a five-point advantage at the intermission (23-18).

The teams exchanged hoops for the opening portion of the third quarter before Britton hit back-to-back hoops and Chris Hill hit a free throw to make it 33-24 in favor of Ridgecroft.

The Rams had another spurt at the end of the period, scoring the final seven points of the quarter on hoops by Britton and Jones and a three-pointer off the hands of Hill to take a 43-28 lead heading into the final period.

Community Christian got within 11 (45-34), but they would get no closer as Hill buried a pair of shots from the charity stripe just before Britton had two hoops and a free throw to push the Rams’ lead to 52-34.

Ridgecroft put three in double figures as Hill and Edwards added 15 each to go with Britton’s 16 points.

The Rams (6-0) will be off until Friday when they head back to Northeast Academy as they square off with the Eagles.
