Willard W. Lee

PORTSMOUTH, Va. n Mrs. Willard Walton Lee, 89, a native of Bertie County, died December 20, 2005 at Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.

A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Monday at Beautiful Zion Baptist Church, Lewiston, by the Rev. Eugene Harris. Burial will be in the Lee-Walton family cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Survivors include her husband, John Arthur Lee Sr. of Portsmouth, Va.; sons, John Arthur Lee Jr., Curtis Earl Lee, William McKinley Lee and Ted S. Lee, all of Portsmouth and Isham Douglass Lee of Lewiston; daughters, Virginia Bowden of Portsmouth and Adelphia Speight of Portsmouth; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Rena P. Cameron

NORFOLK, Va. – Rena P. Cameron, 89, a native of Windsor, died December 19, 2005, in a local hospital.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley C. Little of Venice, Fla., and Joyce Cameron of Norfolk; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was conducted Friday at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake was in charge.

J. Lewter Perry

COFIELD – James Lewter Perry, 86, a native of Hertford County, died December 22, 2005, in Down East Helath & Rehabilitation Center, Gatesville.

Perry was an active member of Holly Springs Baptist Church for over 74 years and served as Sunday School teacher for 39 years.

He was an Army veteran and received a purple heart and bronze star while serving in WWII.

He was a retired farmer, beekeeper and sheep raiser.

In 1993, Mr. Perry was honored with the Governor’s Volunteer of the Year award for his work with the local 4-H

Survivors include his sisters, Frances Eaton of Durham and Ruby Etheridge of Virginia Beach, VA.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Gilbert Crawford.

Burial will be in the Perry family cemetery, Cofield.

The family will receive friends Saturday, prior to services, and will receive friends at Holly Springs Baptist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service at the graveside on Saturday.

Memorial donations may be made to Holly Springs Baptist Church, 702 Hall Siding Rd., Ahoskie, NC, 27910.

Maggie Parker

AHOSKIE n Maggie Parker, 88, a native of Hertford County, died December 20, 2005 at her residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church by the Rev. Elton Hall Jr. Burial will be in the Newsome family cemetery, Union. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Mrs. Parker was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, James R. Parker of Powellsville, Raleigh Parker Jr. of Ahoskie, George Leon Parker of New Bern, Charlie T. Parker of Middletown, Conn., Willie Roy Parker, Randolph Parker, both of Newport News, Salvester Parker of Aulander, Eugene Ray Parker and Larry D. Parker, all of Middletown, George B. Parker of Atlanta, Ga. and Emmanuel Parker of Cofield; daughters, Francis Jackson of Ahoskie, Clemetine Wiggins of Powellsville and Mary Harmon of Raleigh; 63 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
