JACKSON – Battle the flu – for free!
At mid-day on Monday, the Northampton County Health Department received an additional supply of flu vaccine, provided by the North Carolina Immunization Branch.
According to Judi Northcott, the Northampton Health Department will offer this shipment of vaccine free to the public, regardless of county residency.
Northcott and other area health officials are extremely concerned over the well-being of Roanoke-Chowan area residents, especially the elderly. The flu is one of the leading causes of death in older adults, but an annual vaccination can provide protection against this deadly disease.
All individuals and those at high risk can still receive their flu shot and be protected through the duration of flu season.
The Northampton County Health Department will be administering flu vaccine, on a first-come, first-serve basis, at the Jackson site, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
