NEA stays perfect

ELIZABETH CITY – Northeast Academy continued their early-season tear here Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles rolled past Northeastern High School 9-0 to push their spotless streak to five this season.
Second seed Laura Boone led the way in the rout, stopping Michelle Owens by counts of 6-0 and 6-0 to spark the Lady Eagles.
Top seed Lyndal Brown was nearly perfect as well, knocking off Kate Bishop 6-1 and 6-0 in their match.
Chelsea Davis improved her season mark with a straight set win over Erin Murphy by identical counts of 6-2 while Samantha Cook knocked off Saxon Gilbert 6-0 and 6-3.
Brittany Wade easily disposed of Kim Kremmal by scores of 6-1 in both sets while Betty Edwards defeated Jessica Alzerz 6-1 and 6-2.
Brown and Boone continued their winning ways in doubles, knocking off Bishop and Owens by a count of 10-2 while Cook and Allyson Cashwell won the number two doubles match by a count of 10-6. Davis and Wade closed out the sweep with a 10-3 victory over Kremmal and Alzerz.
In exhibition action, Kathryn Bryant and Kelly Edwards took victories while Leann Barnes was defeated. Edwards and Bryant won exhibition doubles, as did Edwards and Barnes.
The 5-0 Lady Eagles will return to the court Monday when they travel back to Elizabeth City to meet Pasquotank County High School.
