Titus Johnson
ROCKY MOUNT n Titus Rapheal Johnson, 47, died July 29, 2005 at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Open Door Ministry of Faith in Rocky Mount by Minister Mary Shell. Interment will be in Gardens of Gethsemane. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, is in charge.
Eugene Sutton
WINDSOR n Eugene Sutton, 84, died August 2, 2005 at Chowan Hospital, Edenton.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Bazemore Temple Church of God in Christ, Windsor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing at Gilliam Funeral Home Chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
George C. Duggins
CHESAPEAKE, Va. – George Calvin Duggins, 61, a native of Norfolk, died August 1, 2005.
Duggins was a member of Metropolitan AMEZ church, where he served as chairman of the Trustee Board, member of the Steward Board and most recently president of the choir. He was a product of Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1961.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Duggins; daughters, Stacey D. Ellis of Suffolk and Shana T. Duggins of Chesapeake; his father, James M. Duggins Sr. of Ahoskie; a brother, James M. Duggins Jr. of Browns Mills, N.J.; three sisters, Ophelia Leigh-Wright of Portsmouth, Shirley Duggins of Adelphi, Md., and Michelle Murphy of Portsmouth; and a granddaughter.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in First Baptist Church, Berkley, 706 E. Berkley Ave., by the Rev. Kenneth Crowder. Family and friends will assemble at 408 Villanova Ave. one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service, is in charge. Rosa Hicks
MANASSAS, Va. n Rosa Lee Porter Hicks, 63, a native of Hertford County, died August 1, 2005 at Prince Williams Hospital.
A funeral was conducted Friday at Nebo Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Holloman. Burial was in the Vaughan family cemetery, Murfreesboro. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, was in charge.
Survivors include her husband, Collie Lee Hicks; two sons, Ronald E. Hicks of Grand Prairie, Texas and Jimmy Lee Hicks of Cameron; two daughters, Annie M. Hunter of Manassas and Charlotte Hicks of Newport News; one brother, Lonnie Porter Jr. of New York; two sisters, Emily Carisile of Durham and Florine Porter of Richmond; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Hubert Grant
ROCKY MOUNT n Hubert Grant, 68, died August 3, 2005 at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.
A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, by the Rev. Thomas L. Walker. Interment will be in Northeastern Cemetery, Rocky Mount.

Frances B. Hollowell
HOBBSVILLE – Frances Byrum Hollowell, 74, a native of Chowan County, died August 4, 2005, in her home.
Mrs. Hollowell was a homemaker, she was a member of Hobbsville Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Choir, the WMU and was a former Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include her husband, Waverly L. Hollowell; her daughter, Joy H. Jackson of Cary; her son, Dennis R. Hollowell of Raleigh; two sisters, Helen Ives of Virginia Beach and Louise Johnson of Edenton; a brother, Joseph Byrum of Edenton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hobbsville Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Dannelly. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge.
Mable C. Baker
AHOSKIE – Mable Cooke Baker, 84, of the 100 N. C. Highway 42 West, died August 4, 2005.
She was a native of Bertie County, a daughter of the late William John and Minnie Brewer Cooke, a retired Lab Technician, a member of First Baptist Church Ahoskie, and the widow of William &uot;Billy&uot; Elworth Baker.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2005, at Garrett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Jesse J. Croom officiating. Burial will follow at Ahoskie Cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters; Mandy B, Lassiter and husband Clingy, Jr., Aulander, N.C.; Kathy B. McCaskey and husband Billy, Ahoskie, N.C.; Beverly B. Bazemore, Ahoskie, N.C.; one sister; Lena Hughes, Roanoke Rapis, N.C.; four grandchildren; Renee Hoggard, Michael Lassiter, Nicholas Wilson, and Chad McCaskey; one great-grandchild; Tyler Lassiter.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Ahoskie Rescue Squad. Garrett Funeral Home is serving the Baker family.
Phyllis W. Eure
AULANDER n Phyllis Wiggins Eure, 52, a native of Bertie County, died August 4, 2005 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Mrs. Wiggins was a teacher at Bearfield Elementary School and a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
She is survived by her husband, Elvis Eure.
Clifton Robinson Jr.
