Ahoskie falls in All-Stars

WILLIAMSTON – Williamston broke open a tied ballgame with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning to beat Ahoskie’s Senior Little League All-Stars 14-4 here Wednesday night.

Williamston scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning to lead 4-0.

Ahoskie responded with a four-spot in the top of the second to deadlock the score.

Austin Britton, Marvin Harrell and Mitch Godwin received walks to load the bases before Daniel Merritt (a runner for Britton) scored on a Tyler Burden bases-loaded walk. Harrell and runner Casey Howard scored on a two-run single by Miles Harrell.

Chase Riddick reached when a pitch hit him.

Patrick Dilday received a bases-loaded walk that forced Burden home and tied the score at 4-all.

Williamston then scored seven runs in the bottom of the third to grab an 11-4 advantage which they never surrendered. The home team added three runs in the bottom of the fourth to end the game.

Miles Harrell led Ahoskie offensively with two of the team’s three hits.

Ahoskie used four pitchers, including Miles Harrell, Godwin, Tyler Pryor and Marvin Harrell.

The loss dropped Ahoskie into the loser’s bracket in the tournament.
