AHOSKIE – For six years, Roanoke Chowan SAFE has hosted a diverse community-wide family activity to raise funds to assist victims of domestic violence.

This year is no different.

Events begin with the annual basketball tournament beginning Friday, July 29 from 6-10 p.m. The basketball tournament continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Local and out-of state teams will attempt to &uot;de-throne&uot; tournament champions, The Huskies.

&uot;Our team loves participating in this tournament,&uot; said the Huskies coach T. Kelly.

&uot;The guys look forward to the high level of play, the friendly spectators, the great food and the opportunity to assist SAFE with this worthy cause.&uot;

The cost for the tournament is $3 per person.

Children 8-years-old and younger enter for free.

In addition to the tournament, attendees will be able to purchase a variety of seafood platters from 12 noon until 5 p.m.

There is something for everybody.

&uot;I think the key to the continued success of this event is the people,&uot; said Lorraine Lassister, Executive Director of RC SAFE.
