MURFREESBORO – Well over 200 incoming Chowan College students attended the New Student Orientation on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25.

Admissions counselors in the Office of Enrollment Management consider this to be a glimpse of what to expect for Fall 2005. Jonathan Wirt, Vice President of Enrollment Management expects to have 400 incoming freshman for the 2005 fall semester.

&uot;It appears that the good news is spreading about Chowan,&uot; he said, while pointing to the increase in applications as substantial proof.

The remaining new students are expected to attend the second New Student Orientation during Welcome Week.

Chowan College is slated to have a record enrollment of freshman in August. By the fourth week in June, 2,108 applications have been received, 1,178 students have been accepted and 357 deposits have been paid. These numbers are well above those in 2004.

&uot;Chowan College is a wonderful place to be right now. We are reaping the rewards of all of the positive things that are occurring on campus. One example that we are experiencing is the expected record number of incoming freshman for the 2005 fall semester,&uot; stated Dr. Chris White, President of Chowan College.

Applications are still being accepted for the Fall 2005 semester. For more information about enrollment at Chowan College, contact the Office of Enrollment Management at 1-800-488-4101 or admissions@chowan.edu.
