Peggy C. Williford

WINDSOR n Peggy Copeland Williford, 70, a native of Pitt County, died June 22, 2005 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral was conducted Friday at Edgewood Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Lee. Memorial gifts may be given to Edgewood Baptist Church or the Gideons. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, was in charge.

Mrs. Williford worked for Ivy Lane Florist and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Marvin "Marty" Castellow of Windsor; a daughter, Paula Pierce of Everett; four brothers, Marvin E. Copeland and Melvin B. Copeland, both of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Hubert M. Copeland of West Columbia, SC and Jerry W. Copeland of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Ruby C. Lee of West Columbia, SC; and one grandson.

Corean N. Bailey

ROCKY MOUNT n Corean N. Bailey, 92, died June 17, 2005 at Hunter Hill Senior Village, Rocky Mount.

A visitation will be conducted from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held immediately after the visitation at 2 p.m. at Gardens of Gethsemane by the Rev. Kenneth Anderson.

Clara Lynch

ROCKY MOUNT n Clara Lynch, 90, died June 19, 2005 at her residence.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount. A funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. at Swift Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Whitakers, by the Rev. Richard Battle.

Joseph A. Harris

AULANDER n Mr. Joseph Arnold "Buckwheat" Harris, age 65, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, died June 22, 2005 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Mr. Harris was born September 6, 1939. He was predeceased by his father, Leroy Harris, Sr. and a sister, Dianne Harris Cooke. He worked with A&P Grocery Stores for many years as a produce manager.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Phelps of Ahoskie, NC; his mother, Nonie White Harris of Aulander, NC; his brothers, Leroy Harris, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Reese Harris of Manteo, NC; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Ethan Phelps and a great-grandson, Landan Phelps.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC with the Rev. Robert May and the Rev. Tom Ravan officiating. Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery.

The family received friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC, Friday from 7 until 8:30 p.m.

Flowers are welcomed, however memorial donations may be made to the Aulander Rescue Squad, Aulander, NC 27805.

William Daniel

HALIFAX n William Daniel, 62, died June 22, 2005 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, is in charge.

William Small Sr.

WINDSOR n William Alexander "Little Buddy" Small Sr., died June 15, 2005.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Cedar Landing Baptist Church by the Rev. Shelton Barnes. Burial was in the Small family cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, was in charge.

Small was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member and deacon of Cedar Landing Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Phefie Small; two daughters, Alicia Small of Windsor and Debra Bazemore of Williamston; a son, William Jr. of the home; four sisters, Sweetie Green, Alma Freeman, Frankie Pierce and Jean Holley; one brother, Roger Small; and two grandchildren.

Maggie Greene

SUNBURY n Maggie Wiggins Greene, 99, a native of Gates County, died June 23, 2005 at Down East Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include one sister, Eva Williams of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and three brothers, Milton Wiggins and Purnell Wiggins, both of Sunbury and Clinton Wiggins of Portsmouth, Va.
