GREENSBORO – Sophomore Brian Burton, a graduate of Hertford County High School, recently concluded his second season as a member of the Guilford College baseball team.
Burton was a Second Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) selection and had the school’s fourth-highest batting average at .348.
He ranked fourth on the clubs with 36 RBIs, good enough for the 10th best mark in the ODAC. Burton also finished fourth on the team in slugging percentage (.486) and walks (14).
He had 14 games with at least two hits and ranked second on the club with 11 multi-RBI games.
A dean’s list business management major, Burton is a four-time member of Guilford’s Student-Athlete Honor Roll and won the athletic department’s George Wynne Most Improved Student-Athlete Award last month.
Additionally, he was an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team pick.
Coach Gene Baker’s squad finished with a 24-17 overall record, the ninth-highest win total in Guilford history and its fourth straight 20-win season, a school record.
The Quakers matched the Guilford standard with a 12-6 ODAC mark. Baker expects 23 returning letter winners next year for the Quakers.
