Henry Jones

ROCKY MOUNT — Henry Jones, 75, of Rocky Mount died Sunday May 15, 2005 at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 21, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Rocky Mount chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m., at the Light of Peace Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. Rev. Lonnie Braswell will be officiating.

Interment will take place immediately following the services at Gardens of Gethsemane in Rocky Mount. Professional services have been entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 326 S. Franklin St., Rocky Mount.

Clarence Smith Jr.

HILLSIDE, N.J. — Clarence Smith Jr., 54, of Hillside, N.J., and formerly of Jackson, N.C., died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, N.J.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church in Jackson.

The graveside service will begin at 1 p.m., with Rev. Franklin D. Williams officiating. Professional services have been entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 326 S. Franklin St., Rocky Mount.

Haywood Sharpe

MURFREESBORO — Haywood Sharpe, 50, a native of Hertford County, died May 15, 2005. Arrangements are incomplete.

Services of comfort are entrusted to Hertford County Undertakers.

Willie Little

HAMILTON — Willie Linwood Little, 75, died May 15, 2005 at Martin General Hospital in Williamston.

A native of Pitt County, he was a factory worker for West Point, and a member of Wynn Chapel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Carr Little; four daughters, Willie Mae Little of Ft. Washington, Md.; Barbara Little of San Antonio, TX.; Joyce Reid of Colonial Heights, Md.; and Diane Goosby of Upper Marlboro, Md.; four sons, Michael Little of Robinsonville; Tommy Little of Atlanta, Ga.; James Green of Oak City; and Dale Askew of Everetts; one brother, Elson Little of Washington, D.C.; four sisters, Daisy B. Carr of Ft. Washington, Md.; Thelma Kelly of NY; Delane Riley of Hampton, Va.; and Ruth Pert Wilson of Alexandria, Va.; 14 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.

A funeral will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2005, at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. J. Alfred Reid officiating. Burial will be at Council Cemetery.

Hunter's Funeral Home of Ahoskie is handling arrangements.

Mary Gaylord

COLERAIN — Mary Gaylord died in Greenville, N.C., May 18, 2005.

She is survived by two sons, Joe Gaylord Jr. of Colerain; Leon Gaylord of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters, Clara McGlohne of Ahoskie; Cora Smallwood of New York, N.Y.; one sister, Martha Sessoms of Ahoskie; 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A graveside service will take place at 12 noon, Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Hillcrest Cemetery, with the Rev. Patrick Young officiating.

In case of rain, the service will be conducted at Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel. Reynolds Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling arrangements.

Annette Peebles

EURE — Annette Ann Arline Peebles, 39, died May 19, 2005 at her home.

A native of Gates County, she was a security officer at Perdue, and a member of Greater Wynn's Grove Baptist church.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Peebles of Ahoskie; her mother, Alma Louise Arline of Eure; three daughters, Shreeka Simone Arline of Eure; Eboni S. Moye of Greenville; and Corsheena Sutton of Oxen Hill, Md.; a grandmother, Erma Weaver; two sisters, Shirelle A. Boone of Gates and Dorethea A. Lassiter of Gatesville, and one grandchild.

The funeral will take place at 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Lebanon Grove Baptist Church, with the Bishop Thomas Lee officiating. Interment will be in Lebanon Grove Church Cemetery.
