WINTON – The manager search process is moving forward.
The Hertford County Board of Commissioners approved an advertisement for the vacant County Manager position here Monday night at their regular meeting.
The advertisement calls for a minimum of five years of experience in local government. Experience must be shown in the areas of budget, finance, information technology, community relations, administrative supervision, human resources and public works.
Education required for the position includes a bachelor’s degree with a master’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in local government.
Those interested in the position will have to send a resume and cover letter to: Hertford County Manager, P.O. Box 116, Winton, NC 27986.
The deadline for applications will be June 30.
According to the county’s original timetable, the Board will spend the better part of July and into August reviewing the applications before narrowing the field for interviews.
The Board hopes to make an offer by September and have the new manager on staff by October 1.
Currently, John Ed Whitehurst is contracted for six months as Interim County Manager. The former Bertie County Manager replaced Don Craft when Craft retired from the position earlier this year.
