Lucille G. Lambert

JACKSON n Mrs. Lucille Griffin Lambert, age 78 of Hampton Woods, Jackson, NC and formerly of Roxobel, NC, died Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.

Mrs. Lambert was born April 22, 1926 in Lumberton, NC, the daughter of the late William and Jennie Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, King Lambert. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Rachel Pope and her husband, Wayne of Rich Square, NC and Mary Ann Crawley and her husband, Taylor of Jackson, NC; six grandchildren, David Pope, Tommy Pope, Michael Pope, Leigh Ann Pope, Wilbur Crawley and Jennifer Crawley Richardson; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square, NC with the Rev. Billy Howell officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC.

Junius C. Parker

ROXOBEL n Mr. Junius Clinton "J.C." Parker, age 79, passed away at his home Saturday, April 16, 2005 surrounded by his wife and children.

Mr. Parker was born March 17, 1926 in Northampton County, NC, the son of the late Charlie Robert Parker and Minnie Dunning Parker. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Parker and a grandson Brandon Mitchell. He was a retired farmer and a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sally Harrell Parker; his children, Linda Lassiter of St. John, Yvonne Cooper and her husband, Jimmy of Whitakers, NC, June Joyner and her husband, Manuel of Roxobel, Anne Brinkley and her husband, Jackie of Union, Alton Parker and his wife, Martha and Patty Mitchell and her husband, Gene, all of Roxobel; his sister, Doris Hodges of Jacksonville, Florida; his brothers, Charlie Parker Jr. of Roanoke, Va., and Hubert Parker of Roxobel; his grandchildren, Kimberly Bristow, Dawn Jones, Manuel Joyner Jr., Mitchell Joyner, Sheri Futrell, Josh Brinkley, Ashley Parker, Abby Parker, Anna Parker, and Courtney Mitchell; and four great-grandchildren, Hannah Jones, Sarah Grace Jones, Steven Futrell and Michaela Grace Futrell.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Sandy Run Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Faison and the Rev. Dave Rimel officiating. Burial will follow at Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery.

The family received friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC, Monday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home.

Memorial contributions may be made to University Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

James Chamblee

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. n James Chamblee, 57, a native of Bertie County, died April 11, 2005 at his residence.

A funeral was conducted Monday at First Baptist Church Powellsville by the Rev. John W. White Jr. Burial will be in the family cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Chamblee was a member of First Baptist Church Powellsville and employed with CSX Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Chamblee of Ahoskie; a son, Emmette Jordan of Asheville; three daughters, Jennica Chamblee of Ahoskie, Tonya Kershaw of Hampton and Cindy Clark of Portsmouth; three brothers, James Palmer of Bronx, NY, William Palmer of Aulander and Steve Palmer of Harrellsville; a sister, Mable Palmer of Powellsville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Louise P. Miller

WINDSOR n Louise Perry Miller, 75, a native of Bertie County, died April 15, 2005 at Bertie Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Clyde Sutton Miller.

A graveside funeral was conducted Monday in Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Roger Kiker. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bertie County Rescue Squad, PO Box 74, Windsor, NC 27983. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, was in charge.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the Easter Star and a retired bridge tender with the NC Department of Transportation.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra M. Sawyer of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Jimmy Miller of Windsor; a brother, Mack Perry of Texas; and three grandchildren.

Arlene H. Ashley

AHOSKIE – Arlene Hoosier Ashley 70, of the 900 block of Overton St., died April 17, 2005 in her home.

She was a native of Ashe County, N.C., the daughter of the late Lillard and Laura Walker Hoosier, a retired sales clerk for Belk Tyler, and a Child Care Provider.

Surviving are a daughter, Yvonne &uot;Bon&uot; Ashley Smith, Ahoskie, N.C.; a son Richard Michael Ashley, Clayton, N.C.; two sisters, Pearl H. Brown of West Jefferson, N.C., and Tressie Mae Calhoun, Creston, N.C.; four brothers, Dale Hoosier and Joe Hoosier, both of Jefferson, N.C., Darrell Hoosier, Dobson, N.C. and Delbert Hoosier of Hokesssin, Delaware, five grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Matthew Smith, McCrae Ashley, Jordan Ashley, Kristin Ferrara; and a special daughter-in-law, Tina Ashley.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, N.C. from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2005 and other times at the home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life or Union Baptist Church.

Jimmy T. Mizelle

COLERAIN -Jimmy Travis Mizelle, 71, died April 16, 2005.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ross Baptist Church Cemetery. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

Wilbert J. Outlaw

WINDSOR n Wilbert Jason Outlaw, died April 13, 2005. He was the widower of Ella Virginia Outlaw.

A funeral was conducted Sunday at Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, by the Rev. George Futrell. Burial was in the Outlaw family Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, George Outlaw; a brother, Avery Outlaw; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

William T. Futrell

AHOSKIE n William Tony Futrell, 41, a native of Hertford County, died April 15, 2005 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Powellsville by the Rev. James Mercer. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. on Saturday and a visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include his parents, Charlie and Bertha Futrell of Ahoskie; six brothers, James R. Futrell, James A. Futrell, Calvin Futrell, Thomas E. Futrell and Roosevelt Robbins, all of Ahoskie and James C. Futrell of Aulander; eight sisters, Bettie Lee Futrell of St. John, Thelma Futrell and Geraldine Sessoms, both of Ahoskie, Mary Rose Futrell and Patricia Parker, both of Gates, Malinda Futrell of New York, Elizabeth Futrell of Menola and Bettie Ann Futrell of Aulander.

Rolister Pittman

ROCKY MOUNT n Mrs. Rolister Hines Pittman, 73, died April 17, 2005 at Life Care Hospital, Rocky Mount.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Light of Peace Baptist Church by the Rev. Lonnie Braswell. Interment will be in Cedar View Cemetery, Enfield.

Hazel E. Wise

NAGS HEAD – Hazel Irene Engebretson Wise, 87, formerly of Ahoskie,

and a native of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died April 15, 2005 at Heritage Assisted Living, Yukon, Ok. She was the widow of Everland Thornton Wise.

Mrs. Wise was a retired bookkeeper for Greene-Bryant Insurance Agency, Ahoskie, and Kellogg, Evans, and White Law Firm, Manteo, and a member of Nags Head Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Lenora Maxine Wise of Moorehead City; two sons, Wesley Earl Wise of Oklahoma City, Ok., and Gene Harold Wise of Plano, Texas; and five grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, by the Rev. John Dutton and Rev. Charles &uot;Charlie&uot; Reber. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and will assemble at the funeral home at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday prior to service. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is in charge.

Alvin Tann II

AHOSKIE n Alvin Tann II, died April 17, 2005.
