Hazel J. Rhea
COLERAIN – Hazel Jernigan Rhea, 85, a native of Bertie County, died March 23, 2005 at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Windsor. She was the widow of Allen Edward Rhea.
Mrs. Rhea was a homemaker and a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Castello of Windsor; two sons, Tony Rhea of Ahoskie and Thomas Rhea of Manteo; one sister, Lucy Hoggard of Colerain; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted Friday in Stoney Creek Cemetery by the Revs. Charles Thompson and Michael Bryant. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Research, 22512 Gate Way Center Dr., Clarksburg, Md. 20871. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, was in charge.
Marcus Powell
WELDON n Marcus Powell, 26, died March 22, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, was in charge.
Lorraine Neal
ROCKY MOUNT n Lorraine Neal, 48, died March 19, 2005 at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.
A visitation will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Thornes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Rocky Mount. Funeral services will also be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thornes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Aaron Knight. H.D. Pope Funeral Home is in charge.
James B. Williams
AHOSKIE n James Bernard "Mickey" Williams, 52, a native of Hertford County, died March 22, 2005 at his residence.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilder's Funeral Home Chapel, Aulander, by the Rev. James Scott. Burial will be in Cherry Family Cemetery, Aulander.
Williams was retired from Davis Vault Co., Ahoskie and a member of Greater Wynn's Grove Baptist Church, Colerain.
Survivors include a son, James Bernard Williams Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Dorothy Siler of Greensboro; brothers, Johnnie Thompson of Chesapeake, Va., Roy Lee Scott of Washington, D.C., the Rev. James Scott of Merry Hill, and Hubert Scott Jr. of Maryland; sisters, Patience Capehart of Colerain, Janet Manley of Aulander, Margaret Boney and Queenie Seaborn, both of Washington, Mary H. Moore of Harrellsville, Evelyn Bunch of Chesapeake, Va., Marion Watson of Portsmouth and Ester Steward of Virginia Beach; and three grandchildren.
Eddie L. Morris
GREENSBORO n Eddie Luther Morris, 53, a native of Bertie County, died March 23, 2005 in Duke University Medical Center.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Tripp. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bertie County Dare Program, c/o Bertie County Sheriff's Department, 104 Dundee St., Windsor, NC 27983. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.
Morris was a former employee of Proctor & Gamble, Inc., and a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Carrie M. Harrell of Elizabeth City; and a brother, Aubrey W. Morris Jr. of Wendell.
James Greene Jr.
WINDSOR n James A. Green Jr., a native of Windsor, died March 16, 2005.
A funeral was conducted Saturday at Cedar Landing Baptist Church by the Rev. Shelton Barnes. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Windsor. Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge.
Barnes was a retired construction worker and a member of Cedar Landing Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Brown-Greene; two children, Juanita Greene-Pugh and Curtis Lee Greene, both of Windsor; one stepson, Tyrone Brown; one sister, Lucy Hoggard of Windsor; four brothers, Johnny Greene of Windsor, Edward Greene of Albany, William Greene of Peachtree, GA, and David Lee Greene of Brooklyn; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Linda F. Branham
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Linda Faye Branham, 53, a native of Bessemer, Ala., died March 19, 2005, in Lancaster, Pa.
Mrs. Branham was a Benefits Resource Center representative for Sentara and a member of City of Refuge of Virginia Beach.
Survivors include her husband, Jerome Branham of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Felicia Davis of Gaston; a son, Jerome Matthew; a sister, Ethel Glover; and a brother, David Hill, all of Charlotte; and five grandchildren.
A funeral was conducted Friday in Graves Funeral Home Inc., Norfolk, by Bishop Stallings. Burial was in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Charlotte.
Marion Bishop
AHOSKIE n Marion Bishop, 55, a native of Hertford County, died March 24, 2005 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Joseph Smith. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie. Wilder's Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.
Miss Bishop was a member of Freedom of Praise Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her mother, Marie Riddick Bishop of Ahoskie; a son, Elton L. Bishop of Ahoskie; two daughters, Shonta Holley and Kimberly N. Berryman, both of Ahoskie; two brothers, Joseph Bishop and Ervin Bishop, both of Ahoskie; two sisters, Janet M. Tuff and Carolyn Bishop Outlaw, both of Ahoskie; and two grandchildren.
James W. Smith
SARASOTA, Fla. n James Wilbert Smith, died March 22, 2005 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Baptist Church, Gates, by the Rev. James Brown. Burial will be in Buckland family cemetery, Gates County. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; eight children, Suzanne, Melissa, James, Carl, Frank, Elizabeth, Jacqueline and Tony; one brother, Charles; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Marjorie M. Elliott
WOODLAND n Mrs. Marjorie McDaniel Elliott, age 85, died at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC on Friday, March 25, 2005. She was a native of Northampton County and a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church. She attended East Carolina Teachers College in Greenville, NC. Mrs. Elliot worked as a secretary to the district supervisor of the office of Vocational Education in Woodland, NC. Preceding her in death is her husband, T.B. Elliott, her mother, Olivia B. McDaniel, her father, Simon P. McDaniel and her brothers, Roger and Stanley McDaniel.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Shirley Kozlik and husband, Roland and Jean Elliott, all of Spruce Pine, NC; two sisters, Margaret M. Griffin of Williamston, NC and Helen M. Joyner of Woodland, NC. Also surviving are two stepgrandchildren, Leslie Schalkoff and husband, Robert of Clemson, SC and Janet Kabra and husband, Bsam of Qatar.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 28, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Woodland United Methodist Church in Woodland, NC with the Rev. Sid Collins officiating. The burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Woodland, NC.
The family will receive friends at the home of Marjorie McDaniel Elliott, 511 W. Main Street, Woodland, NC on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodland United Methodist Church, Woodland, NC 27897.

Donald S. Wimbrow
NORLINA n Donald Smallwood "Tickie" Wimbrow, 79, died Monday. Mr. Wimbrow was a Rich Square, NC native born May 31, 1925 to the late Edgar McGee Wimbrow and Elizabeth Godfrey Wimbrow.
He was a US Army Veteran having received the purple heart while serving in WWII. Mr. Wimbrow was a self-employed salesman and a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Henderson with burial to follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon, NC. There will be a memorial service held at 7 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2005 at The Carpenter's Shop Church, Ahoskie.
Mr. Wimbrow is survived by his wife, Catherine Manning Wimbrow; two daughters, Bunny W. Macon of Wilmington, NC and Donna W. Steele of Ahoskie, NC; two sons, Donald S. Wimbrow II of Henderson, NC and J. Mikel Wimbrow of Piedmont, SC; one sister, Jewel Johnson of Seattle, WA; one brother, E.M. "Red" Wimbrow of Petersburg, VA; eleven grandchildren, Tamara Maxbauer Stegall, Robbie Maxbauer, Carmen Steele, Shea Steele, Catherine Macon, Elizabeth Macon, Mik Wimbrow, Adrienne Wimbrow, Nate Wimbrow, Tickie Wimbrow and Mike Wimbrow;; and six great-grandchildren, Haley Stegall, Hunter Stegall, Josh Stegall, Alex Maxbauer, Colin Brock and Janina McIntosh.

The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Blaylock Funeral Home.
