Cocaine discovery nets arrest

AHOSKIE – The City-County Drug Unit has registered another arrest.

According to Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan, the drug unit made an arrest Friday evening after securing a search warrant.

Lt. Raymond Eure, head of the City-County Drug Unit, served a warrant on Derrick Stephon Moore, 33, at the latter’s residence located in the Ahoskie-Cofield Road.

Upon searching the residence, officers found five hits of crack cocaine and seized $383 in cash.

Moore was arrested and is facing charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine. He is under a $25,000 secured bond and made his first appearance in Hertford County District Court Tuesday.

&uot;I want to thank the officers for another job well done,&uot; Vaughan said. &uot;We will continue our efforts to slow down the sale and use of crack cocaine in Hertford County.&uot;

Vaughan also said assistance was provided by the Ahoskie Police Department, Murfreesboro Police Department and Hertford County Sheriff’s Office.
