Entries sought for Woodland parade

WOODLAND – A one-of-a-kind event is looking for participants.
The Woodland Easter Parade committee is seeking entries from those wishing to participate in the eighth annual event.
According to Mayor Margaret Burgwyn, the parade in the only one of its kind in the area and is one of only two in the state of North Carolina.
&uot;We welcome all kinds of entries from horses to helicopters,&uot; Burgwyn said. &uot;We want to see as many different entries as possible.&uot;
According to Woodland Town Clerk Gail Colson, there are five confirmed entries and the town is waiting for response from several other groups.
The annual parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 with the lineup beginning at 10 a.m.
The parade route will begin at the National Guard Armory and Fineline Industries East parking lots at the end of Cherry Street and will proceed north on U.S. 258 to Myrtle Street, ending at Jerusalem Baptist Church and Lewis Manufacturing.
&uot;It’s a great time to come out,&uot; Burgwyn said. &uot;Usually, the weather is starting to get warm and it’s a good excuse to get out and shake off a little cabin fever and enjoy a good community activity.&uot;
