RICH SQUARE – Investigators are seeking help from citizens who might have information on three mystery suspects that robbed a Duck Thru Convenience Store clerk at gunpoint here Tuesday night.
Working diligently to follow up on existing leads, Rich Square Police Chief Bo Roye welcomed help from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office as well as that of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and the Tillery Department of Corrections, who together provided investigative manpower and several canine units.
According to Roye, the suspects, who are described only as three black males, flipped the circuit breaker outside the Duck Thru facility before entering the building to make their demands for money, thereby cutting electricity to the surveillance cameras.
&uot; From what we gather, one of the suspects held the clerk at gunpoint and made her lay on the floor, while the other two took money from the register behind the counter,&uot; Roye said.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., ended with the suspects fleeing the scene of the crime with an undisclosed amount of cash and were last seen running north on Main Street in Rich Square.
&uot; The dogs did an exemplary job,&uot; said Roye, crediting the canine units for helping law enforcement officers locate some good physical evidence.
&uot; We’ll continue pursuing the leads we have, but we’re hoping more light can be shed on this crime through information and/or tips from citizens,&uot; he said.
Anyone with information about the crime or its suspects is asked to contact Roye at 539-2136 or the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office at 534-2611.
Calls may also be made anonymously by calling Northampton County Crime Stoppers Inc. at 534-1110.
