GREENVILLE, SC – Chowan College sophomore guard Joi Hazel (Newport News, VA/Menchville HS) earned NCCAA Player of the Week honors after helping the Braves to a pair of wins last week.

Hazel scored a combined 43 points in wins over North Carolina Wesleyan College and Shenandoah University last week. With her team trailing 62-61 and just 22 seconds left on the clock, Hazel hit the game-winning jumper to give Chowan their 10th win of the season. Hazel poured in a team-high 22 points and was 10-17 from the floor in that win.

She went on to score 21 points in an 89-69 win over Shenandoah this past Sunday. Along with her 21 points, she grabbed 6 rebounds, had 3 assists and 1 steal.
