AHOSKIE – The three people arrested in connection with a double homicide have been expedited back to North Carolina.
They were brought to the Ahoskie Police Department in handcuffs during the afternoon hours of Monday.
A local officer there and several members of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation arrested the three in Petersburg, Va.
The three arrested are Sherodd Ross, 25, and Joseph Crawford, 25, both from the 100 block of South Jefferson St., Petersburg, Va.; and Dawn Murphy, 20, of the 1400 block of Brandersbridge Rd., Colonial Heights, Va.
Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh said Monday that all three were being placed in Hertford County Jail under no bond.
The double homicide occurred sometime prior to 4:28 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, but details have been sketchy at best.
The police department received a call and responded to Apt. 4 of Gordon Court in Ahoskie, where they found Christopher Kevin Goddard, 20, and Robert Smith, 22, shot to death.
Both men had Ahoskie addresses, but it is still not clear if the two men resided in the apartment where they were found.
Fitzhugh said all three suspects have been charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and one count each of first-degree burglary.
The female defendant entered the police department smiling for the camera, while the two males hid their faces as officers escorted them into the building.
No word yet as to when a trial date will be set for the three.
