Sgt. Benjamin Bazemore Jr.

HOUSTON, Texas – Sgt. Benjamin Cleo Bazemore Jr., 45, a native of Northampton County, died December 7, 2004 at Michael Debekey Hospital, Houston.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Woodland, by the Rev. John Grant. Burial will be in the Burden family cemetery, Aulander. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Benjamin Cleo Bazemore Jr. memorial fund in care of Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., P.O. Box 520, Aulander, NC 27805.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Bookout of Houston; a brother, Alphonso Daniels of Philadelphia, Pa.; and eight sisters, Catherine Edwards of Hampton, Va., Dorothy Bates of Woodland, Margaret Parker of Gates; Lillie Mickens of Goldsboro, Dessie Outlaw of Ahoskie, Velma Outlaw and Pattie Outlaw, both of Aulander and Barbara Thombley of Newport News.

Carroll Robertson Sr.

ELIZABETH CITY – Henry Carroll Robertson, 69, a native of Bertie County, died December 8, 2004 at Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. He was the widower of his first wife, Shirley Beale Robertson.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Twiford Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Rob Madden. Burial will be in Westland Memorial Park Cemetery.

Robertson was a self-employed home improvement contractor. He was a member of the Pasquotank Providence Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Bee Keeper’s Association.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Jones Robertson; two sons, Henry Carroll &uot;Hank&uot; Robertson Jr. of Lillington and David Keith Robertson of the home; three stepdaughters, Lisa G. Austin of Elizabeth City, Keenen G. Broome of Lake Gaston and Sheila D. Grizzard of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Carlton Robertson of Edenton; two sisters, Myrtle R. Wynne of Ahoskie and Edna R. Joyner of Franklin, Va.; and five grandchildren.

Pearla F. Hewitt

NORFOLK, Va. – Pearla Futrell Hewitt, 83, a native of Winton, died December 9, 2004. She was the widow of Milton L. Hewitt.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk chapel. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Mrs. Hewitt was a member of First Church of God-Anderson.

Survivors include two sons, Carlton R. Hewitt of Chesapeake and Ronald L. Hewitt Sr. of North Carolina; three daughters, Julia A. Felts and Jacqueline K. Hess, both of Norfolk and Sharon M. Holland of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 10 stepgrandchildren.

Ernest Forward Jr.

EDENTON – Ernest Forward Jr., 68, died December 8, 2004 in Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Beaver Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Greg Brinson. Evans Funerals and Cremations of Edenton is serving the Forward family.

Forward was a member of Unanimity Lodge #7 and also served in the United States Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Edna M. Forward; two daughters, Amy Forward and Casey Forward; four sons, Ernest Forward III of Virginia, William Kyle Forward of Edenton, Douglas Alan Forward of Edenton and Charles Darien Forward of Bertie; three sisters, Mary Catherine Brown of Alabama, Sue Taylor and Marsha Williams, both of Indiana; two brothers, James Allen Forward of Indiana and Ralph Forward of Florida; seven grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.

Elisabeth C. Daniels

EDENTON – Elisabeth &uot;Beth&uot; Cannady Daniels, 42, of Wilson died December 9, 2004. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Rev. Ray Barnhill.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Belle C. Daniels of Wilson; two sisters, Jane Rountree of Gatesville and Anna Anderson of Washington; and a brother, Bert of Wilson.
