ABC store robbed at gunpoint

RICH SQUARE – Police are still looking for at least two suspects involved in an armed robbery of the ABC store on Main Street here Saturday night.
According to Rich Square Police Chief Alan B. Roye, two black males – believed to be in their early 20 are younger – entered the store around 8:18 p.m.
&uot;One was wearing a white Halloween type mask and blue jeans,&uot; Roye stated. &uot;This particular suspect pointed a revolver at the clerk.
&uot;The other suspect was wearing a stocking over his heard and blue jeans,&uot; Roye continued.
Roye said one of the suspects jumped over the counter and removed money from the cash drawer, and then both fled on foot north in the direction of the Roanoke Electric Cooperative building.
Officer T.G. Twine was the first officer to arrive on the scene, followed shortly after by Woodland Police Chief Don Ryan.
Other officers assisting in the search for the suspects were Deputy Steve Lane of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Tony Burnette of the Jackson Police Department and Deputy Daniel Jenkins with the K-9 unit of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
&uot;The investigation is still on-going,&uot; Roye said Wednesday afternoon. &uot;We are following several leads at this time, but no arrests have been made.&uot;
Roye is asking anyone with information on this case or who may have driven by the ABC store and seen subjects running northward along US 258 shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, to call his department at 252-539-2136 or the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office at 252-534-2611.
