WINTON – The Roanoke-Chowan area has long prided itself in an effort to defeat cancer. That endeavor continues here later this month.

In conjunction with Nucor Steel, the American Cancer Society’s Hertford County Relay for Life will sponsor the Great Pumpkin Shootout, a Superball golf tournament on Oct. 29 at Tuscarora Greens Golf and Country Club.

The deadline to enter is Friday, Oct. 22. The field is limited to 80 golfers (20, four-person teams). Contact Connie Orona (356-3711) or Rochelle Harrell (356-3765) to register.

There is a $75 per person registration fee. That includes 18 holes of golf, two mulligans, driving range event, putting contest, chipping contest, the Manager’s Hole Challenge, lunch, dinner and a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Team sponsorships are available for $300. Others can contribute to this worthy cause by sponsoring a tee box or hole. Those are available for $50 and $75.

There will be an auction following the awards dinner.
