Alabama native named publisher

Jeff Findley, 35, has been named publisher of Roanoke-Chowan News Herald, The Gates County Index, and The Roanoke-Chowan’s Shopper Weekly and president of Roanoke-Chowan Publications, L.L.C.

He succeeds Jay Jenkins who will remain as editor of the Roanoke-Chowan News Herald and the Gates County Index.

Findley began work Thursday, October 7, 2004.

He comes to Ahoskie from Clanton, Ala. where he was general manager of The Clanton Advertiser, a daily newspaper, and the Advertiser Extra, a shopping guide.

Roanoke and Clanton are part of the Boone Newspapers, Inc. organization of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Jeff is a native of Millbrook, Ala. and a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery earning a degree in business administration.

He began his newspaper career in 2000 as an account executive for The Montgomery Advertiser, Montgomery, Ala.

While in Clanton, Findley was active in civic affairs including Clanton Kiwanis Club and the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce.

Findley and his wife, Stephanie, have one daughter, McKenzie, 4.
