Teens face drug charges

MURFREESBORO – Three people were arrested recently as a result of an undercover investigation conducted by Murfreesboro Police Narcotics Officer Lt. Joe Burgess.

The arrests, which took place at the suspect’s residence, were a result of the culmination of an undercover operation involving the Murfreesboro Police Department, Hertford County Sheriff’s Office (Deputy Matt Bradley,) Winton Police Department (Officer David Griffith) and the Chowan College Police Department (Chief of Chowan Campus PD Brien Lassiter).

Michael Hollowell, 19, of Hamlet NC, the first of the three individuals arrested in the operation. He was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of and conspiracy to sell marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Upon his arrest, Hollowell was brought to the Murfreesboro Police Department where he was placed under a $28,500 bond and transported to the Hertford County jail.

Landon Hair, 18, also of Hamlet was arrested and charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was also taken to Murfreesboro Police Department and placed under an $18,500 bond.

The third suspect, Robert Mapp Jr., 19, of Onley, Va. was arrested and charged with conspiracy to sell marijuana and was taken to the police department where he was subsequently placed under a $7,500 bond.

&uot;We want people to know that this is going to be the first of many operations and we will continue to keep pressure on people who bring drugs into our community until they realize it’s not profitable to carry out their drug business in Murfreesboro,&uot; said Murfreesboro Police Chief Darrell Rowe.

&uot;Lieutenant Burgess did an outstanding job of handling his duties and as a result, both the undercover operation and arrests were carried out in a very professional and smooth manner.&uot;

Rowe also extended a special thanks to the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Matt Bradley and Officer David Griffith of the Winton Police Department for providing undercover officers for the operation and the Chowan Campus Police Chief Brien Lassiter and his department for its assistance.
