Brian K. Stephenson

MURFREESBORO – Brian Keith Stephenson, 15, a native of Hertford County, died September 12, 2004 at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hertford County Undertakers Chapel, Winton, by Elder Richard Bonner. Burial will be in Carver’s Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, Angela S. Jones of Murfreesboro; his father, Kenneth Stephenson of Rich Square; his stepfather, Brian Jones of Richmond, Va.; maternal grandparents, Lois Riddick and Vernon Riddick, both of Murfreesboro; his paternal grandmother, Nora Stephenson of Rich Square; and three brothers, Channing Stephenson, Dorian and Tevia Jones, all of Murfreesboro.

Arthur L. Johnkins

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Arthur Lee Johnkins, 68, a native of Gates County, died September 14, 2004 at Howard University Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert L. Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include three sisters and one brother, Albert Jernigan of Virginia Beach, Va., Elouise Collins of Hampton, Aretha Cherry of Chesapeake and Ada Flood of Ahoskie.

A’Darius T. Joyner

ROCKY MOUNT – Infant A’Darius Terrell Joyner, died September 15, 2004, at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday by the Rev. James Harper at Gardens of Gethsemane, Rocky Mount. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge.

David White

CORAPEAKE -Forrest David White Jr., 47, a native of Suffolk, Va., died September 14, 2004, in his home.

A funeral was conducted Friday in Eureka Baptist Church by the Rev. Cameron Currin. Burial was in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the Eureka Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 68, Corapeake, NC 27926 or Gates County Rescue Squad, Gatesville, NC 27938.

White was a maintenance worker, he was a member of Eureka Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Alan White of Corapeake; his parents, Forrest D. Sr. and Joyce Brinkley White of Corapeake; his sister, Mabel W. Howell of Rocky Mount; and a grandson.

Lloyd E. Monds

GATES – Lloyd Edward Monds, 80, a native of Chowan County, died September 16, 2004, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Warwick Baptist Church Cemetery, Hobbsville. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge. Friends may join the family at the residence or in the social hall of the church following services Saturday.

Mr. Monds was retired from the pulp mill department of Union Camp, now International Paper in Franklin and he was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Casper Monds; four daughters, Mary Davis of Courtland, Va., Doris Marks of Oxford, Pauline Legg of Eure and Joyce Hobbs, both of Hobbsville; two sons, Ray Monds and friend Maureen of Edenton of Tyner; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Elma Long

LASKER – Mrs. Elma Mae Holloman Long, age 86, formerly of Lasker, NC, died September 14, 2004 at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Windsor, NC.

Mrs. Long was born May 30, 1918 in Weldon, NC, the daughter of the late James Thomas Holloman and Mary Virginia Bridges Holloman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Linwood Long and a daughter, Elaine L. Connor. She retired from Myle Craft after 30 years of service. She was a member of Lasker Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary L. Simmons of Aulander, NC, and Peggy L. Fajna of Emporia, Va.; five grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held, Friday, September 17, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Lasker Baptist Church in Lasker, NC. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery.

The family received friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, Thursday from 7 until 8:30 p.m.

Clara Holloman

AHOSKIE – Clara Holloman, died September 16, 2004 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Piney Wood Chapel Baptist Church, Powellsville, by the Rev. Matthew Silver. Burial will be in the Askew family cemetery, Bertie County. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include her husband, Redgie Holloman of Ahoskie; three sons, Chester Holloman of Portsmouth, Va., Redgie Holloman of Rich Square and Steven Holloman of Forrestville, Md.; one daughter, Hate Jones of Ft. Washington, Md.; three brothers, Clarence Revelle Jr. of Aulander, Sidney and Donald Revelle, both of East Orange, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dennis White Jr.

COLERAIN – Dennis Lee White Jr., 55, a native of Bertie County, died September 14, 2004.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oxley Hill Baptist Church, Merry Hill, by the Rev. Vonner Horton. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Windsor. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Survivors include his wife, Etherlene White of Colerain; one son, Adam Savage of Harrellsville; one daughter, Faye Savage of Harrellsville; his mother, Dorothy White of Colerain; his father, Dennis White of Colerain; three brothers, Jerry White of Colerain, Larry White of Windsor and Charles White of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven sisters, Cordelia Cofield of Colerain, Marion Harrison of Colerain, Carolyn White of Merry Hill, Janice White of Colerain, Dorothy White of Colerain, Hope White of Edenton and Jeronica White of Roper; and one grandchild.
