COMO – An apparent domestic squabble landed one man in the hospital and a juvenile in trouble near here early Sunday morning.

According to Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan, a call for law enforcement and emergency response came in at approximately 12:44 a.m. on Sunday for an alleged stabbing at Maney’s Neck Mobile Home Park, located off US 258 north of Murfreesboro.

The victim, 44-year-old David Gonzales of 109 Chief Street in the park, had been stabbed once in the chest area with a pocketknife. Gonzales was transported to Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie and later taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville from where he was treated and released.

The suspect in the case is a juvenile male, the stepson of the victim.

&uot; From what we were able to determine at the scene, the juvenile was being disrespectful to his mother and the step-father stepped in as a peacemaker at which time he was apparently stabbed by the juvenile,&uot; said the Sheriff.

Hertford County Sheriff’s Deputy Allen Archer investigated the incident. He brought a juvenile petition against the young male, who is currently in secured custody.
