GASTON – Kathy Belcher, 25, of 65 Caladium Lane in Roanoke Rapids is out on $5,000 secured bond after being arrested Sunday for allegedly attacking a man in the parking lot outside the Talk of the Town nightclub on James Jones Road in Gaston.
According to Detective Brenda Burnette of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began inside the club when the victim, 25-year old Adrianne McKee Scott of 745 Bethel Church Road in Jackson, got into a fight with the assailant’s husband after he allegedly hit Scott’s sister in the face.
Eyewitnesses told the Detective that they saw Belcher arguing with other people during the course of the night and later witnessed her slashing the victim outside.
&uot;From what we gather, Belcher’s husband was arguing with Scott when she attacked him from behind with what we believe may have been a razor blade,&uot; said Burnette.
Belcher is also believed to have attacked the victim two different times that same day prior to the incident at the nightclub.
&uot;Scott was able to get up and walk away from the situation and was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle after the attack,&uot; said Burnette.
As a result of the altercation, Scott sustained multiple injuries including lacerations on his neck, upper and lower back and both sides and received 206 staples, instead of stitches, at the hospital in an attempt to close the wounds.
&uot;He’s lucky he’s alive,&uot; said Burnette, &uot;because she apparently hit an artery.&uot;
Belcher is charged with three felony charges, assault with a deadly weapon, intent to kill and inflicting serious injury.
She appeared before the magistrate Thursday and is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on September 23.
