Teen faces larceny charges

AHOSKIE – An Ahoskie teen was arrested here Wednesday, charged with larceny from his grandmother’s home.

Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh reported that Michael Anthony Santos, 16, of 513 South Catherine Creek Road was arrested for the alleged crime. The incident occurred one day earlier.

&uot;After the crime was committed, the grandmother reported it to one of our magistrates,&uot; said Chief Fitzhugh. &uot;In turn, the magistrate turned that information over to (Ahoskie Police) Sgt. Michelle Garrett.&uot;

Acting on that information, Sgt. Garrett drew-up a warrant for Santos’ arrest. He was spotted at an Ahoskie convenience store on Wednesday afternoon by Ahoskie Police Detective Sgt. Jeremy Roberts while on routine patrol.

&uot;Sgt. Roberts was able to make the arrest without incident,&uot; noted Chief Fitzhugh.

Santos was charged with larceny from a person. He was taken to the Hertford County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
