MURFREESBORO – Junior outfielder Nick Hagler has been named to the Division III All-America Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Hagler turned in a stellar junior year performance, earning him First Team All-South Region and Third Team All-America honors.

The Timberlake (NC) native hit at a .410 clip, good enough to lead the team and the USA South in hitting. Hagler tallied 71 hits in 175 at-bats, including a team-leading 13 doubles, 2 triples, 9 homeruns and 32 RBI. For the second consecutive season he led the team in stolen bases, swiping 38 of 42 bases in 2004.

Hagler was named the USA South’s Player of the Year while also garnering All USA South First Team honors. In May, he was named the Chowan College Male Athlete of the Year.

Hagler played in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League for the Lenoir Oilers, helping them finish 3rd in the Northern Division standings. The SCBL is a summer wooden bat league that features college players from all three NCAA divisions. Hagler was the second leading hitter on the team, ending the season hitting at a .321 clip, with 6 doubles, 3 homeruns and a team-leading 24 stolen bases.

Hagler will return to Chowan for his senior season later this month.
