David Warren

MURFREESBORO – David Warren, 55, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., died June 25, 2004 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A private graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at the Vaughan family cemetery with Dr. T. Dale Kidd. The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home, Jackson, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the home of his daughter on Pin Hook Rd. in Rich Square.

Warren was employed with Maola Milk for over 28 years.

Survivors include his son, Scott Warren of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Lori W. Futrell of Rich Square; a sister, Marilyn Lee of Hampton, Va.; a brother, Bobby Warren of Virginia Beach, Va.; and two grandsons.

Junious J. Chavis

WINDSOR – Junious Jiles Chavis, died June 25, 2004, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel, Ahoskie. Burial will be in the Chavis family cemetery, Winton.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Chavis of New Jersey; a daughter, Sylvia Wilkins of Raleigh; one brother, Duwane Chavis of Winton; and five sisters, Lillian Lang of Hampton, Va., Susie Everette of Richmond, Christine Jones of Detroit, Mich., Willie Mae George and Sallie Ann Johnston, both of Washington, D.C.

James W. Maddrey

MURFREESBORO – James W. Maddrey, 78, a native of Hertford County, died June 24, 2004, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Revelle Hill Baptist Church, Woodland, by the Rev. Elisha Barnes. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include three sons, William M. Maddrey of Baltimore, Md., James Maddrey Jr. of Durham and Robert Maddrey of Murfreesboro; two daughters, Julie Maddrey and Doris Maddrey, both of Murfreesboro; three sisters, Ethel Mae Floyd of New York, N.Y., Linda Maddrey and Anne Jackson, both of Suffolk, Va.; five brothers, Gilbert Thomas of Franklin, Robert Lee Maddrey of Murfreesboro, William Maddrey, Ocsacar Maddrey and George Maddrey Jr., all of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lovie B. Cherry

WINDSOR – Lovie B. Cherry, 79, died June 28, 2004, at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Landing Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Windsor. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

Thomas Riddick

WINDSOR – Thomas P. Riddick, 61, a native of Bertie County, died June 26, 2004, at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Colerain, by Dr. Bishop Robert Wise. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Riddick was a member of First Baptist Church, Colerain.

Survivors include one son, Gerald Riddick of Norfolk, Va.; three brothers, James E. Wilson of Colerain, Benjamin R. Wilson of Colerain and Robert Smallwood of Swan Quarters; seven sisters, Mary Banks of Harrellsville, Catherine Holley of Newport News, Helen Holley of Merry Hill, Esther L. Brown of Powellsville, Margaret Smallwood of Powellsville, Elizabeth Jones and Bettie Jones, both of Ahoskie; and four grandchildren.
