Post 94 pounds Ahoskie

AHOSKIE – Post 94 pounded out 15 hits and grabbed a 14-3 victory over Post 102 here Sunday night.
The Snow Hill Post jumped out to a 10-0 advantage in the Senior American Legion contest and cruised to the easy victory.
Ahoskie’s Post 102 scored their first run in the bottom of the fourth frame thanks to a Brian Burton solo homer to right.
Ahoskie added one run in the bottom of the fifth. Adam Baldwin started things off with an infield single and went to second on a wild pitch.
After stealing third, Baldwin scored on an error to cut the Post 94 lead to 10-2.
Snow Hill added four runs in the top of the seventh to lead 14-2 heading into the bottom of the final frame.
Post 102 added their final run in the seventh. Jason Jones singled to center and went to second on a Baldwin single.
Jones reached third on a wild pitch before a Ryan Ellis walk loaded the bases. With two out, Jones scored on a third strike wild pitch that allowed Josh Adams to reach.
A groundout ended the Post 102 threat.
Chris Lawrence went two and one-third innings on the mound for the loss. Matthew Schwab, Ellis and Wes Ward also pitched during the contest.
&uot;Snow Hill is a good team,&uot; Ahoskie skipper Randy Whitaker said. &uot;We knew before the game they could hit.
&uot;We have played a lot of games and were a little short on pitching,&uot; he added. &uot;The main thing is that we are not hitting. We have only had four hits tonight.&uot;
Post 102 is 1-6 and will play at Pitt County tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m.
In Junior American Legion action, Ahoskie topped Snow Hill 7-6 in nine innings. Ahoskie is 6-3 overall.
