Morris L. Bowser

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Morris Lee Bowser, 47, a native of Hertford County, died May 27, 2004, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Bowser was an electrician and a landscaper.

Survivors include five daughters, Crystal Porter, Akeira Bowser, December Bowser and Monique Bowser, all of Chesapeake and Shiena Bowser of Charlotte; five sons, Morris Lee Bowser Jr., Lavar Bowser, Brandon Bowser and Jeffrey Bowser, all of Chesapeake and Ronald Williams of Virginia Beach; his mother, Janice Elizabeth Outlaw Bowser of the home; three sisters, Cynthia Spuriel of Philadelphia, Pa., Angela Wilson of Chesapeake and Janice Sherrey McGill of Norfolk; five brothers, Calvin Bowser and Lawrence Bowser of Chesapeake, Jerome Bowser, Linwood Bowser Jr. and Roy Bowser, all of Philadelphia; and 10 grandchildren.

A funeral was conducted Wednesday in Fitchett Funeral Home Chapel, 1821 Liberty St., Chesapeake. Burial was in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Stallings Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge.

Jessie H. Bottoms

CONWAY – Jessie Helen Bottoms, 93, died May 29, 2004 at Guardian Care Nursing Facility, Scotland Neck.

A funeral will be conducted a 4 p.m. Thursday at Zoar Baptist Church, Pendleton, by the Rev. William F. Denson. Burial will be in the Flythe family cemetery, Galatia.

Alec C. Foy

WINDSOR – Alec Christopher &uot;A.C.&uot; Foy, 59, a native of Craven County, died June 1, 2004 at his home.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Allen Harmon. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bertie County Rescue Squad, PO Box 74, Windsor, NC 27983.

Foy was retired from Champion International Paper Company and coached football in the Cashie Youth League for over 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lee Eubanks; daughter, Rose Mary F. Perry of Windsor; two sons, Allen C. Foy and William C. Foy, both of Windsor; sisters, Helen Thomas of Knightdale and Huldy Carter of Smyrna, DE; a brother, Woodrow Norris of Chesapeake, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Michael L. Wilson

COLERAIN – Michael Lee Wilson, 34, a native of Bertie County, died May 28, 2004, at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wynn’s Grove Baptist Church by Bishop Thomas Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Wilson was a farmer and a member of Wynn’s Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Dora Wilson; his father, John Lee Wilson, both of Colerain; two daughters, Shattericka Slade of Colerain and Alexus Wilson of Ahoskie; one brother, Cardell Wilson of Killeen, Texas; grandparents, Herman and Agnes Moody, both of Colerain; and two grandchildren.

Lillie R. Bowser

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Lillie Ruth Bowser, 77, a native of Hertford County, and formerly of Aulander, died June 1, 2004 at the Medical College of PA.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mill Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronald Dolberry. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander.

Mrs. Bowser was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Shelia Stith of Aikens, SC and Frocie Bowser of Philadelphia; four sons, Jessie H. Bowser Jr. of Aulander, James Bowser, Robert Bowser and Ernest Bowser, all of Philadelphia; a brother, Johnnie Fennell of Ahoskie; two sisters, Minnie Berry of Philadelphia and Mattie Morris of Newport News, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mildred Morton

AHOSKIE – Mildred Morton, died June 1, 2004 at Guardian Care Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Sherman L. Horton

WINDSOR – Sherman L. Horton, died June 1, 2004 at Hunter McGuire Veteran’s Hospital, Richmond, Va.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Mary Drake. Burial will be in the Morris family cemetery, Perrytown. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Horton was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, William L. Horton of Spring Lake and Madison Askew; four daughters, Joyce R. Horton-Murray of Laurel, Md., Pauline Thomas of Marbury, Md., Geraldine H. Hill of Baltimore and Sharon Palmer of Windsor; three sisters, Alice Thompson and Mary Rose Morning, both of Middletown, Conn. and Marie Norman of Edenton; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Sidney Eason

AHOSKIE – Sidney Eason, died May 31, 2004, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Nebo Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, by the Rev. Robert Holloman. Burial will be in the Eason family cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

She was a member of Nebo Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Savage of Ahoskie and one sister, Christlee Daughtry of Aulander.
