Elderly man unharmed in home invasion

WINTON – An elderly man escaped unharmed, Wednesday, after two black males allegedly forced their way into his King Street residence.
The incident, which occurred around 11:23 p.m., happened shortly after the victim arrived home from work.
&uot;The victim reported opening his door after hearing what he believed to be someone knocking,&uot; said Officer David Griffith of the Winton Police Department. &uot;He claimed that the suspects pushed open the door and forced their way into his home, taking some of his personal belongings.&uot;
According to information gathered in the investigation, Griffith stated that the suspects had been seen fleeing the scene in the direction of the Duck Thru.
&uot;These suspects need to be arrested and brought to justice so other crimes of this nature can be prevented,&uot; stated Griffith, adding that anyone with information concerning the alleged crime should contact the Winton Police Department at: 358-3041 or the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office, who is aiding in the ongoing investigation at: 358-7800.
